Easy switch, good for pets

I signed up for GoodCharlie's 24-month electricity plan. It was super easy to switch over. I like that they help out animal shelters, too. My bill has been what I expected.

Good plan, strong pet benefits

I switched to GoodCharlie for their 12-month electricity plan last month. The enrollment process online was straightforward, just entered my address and picked a plan. They didn't require a deposit, which was a plus. Activation took about 3 business days after signing up. I've used the 24/7 video vet access once for a quick question about my cat, and it was really convenient. The vet was helpful. The pet emergency fund coverage also gives me some peace of mind. Electricity rates seem competitive for a fixed-rate plan. So far, no issues with billing or service. It's a solid option for Texans with pets.

Decent service, minor issue

I chose GoodCharlie for their green energy plan. The sign-up bonus was nice, a $50 bill credit. The whole process of switching from my old provider went smoothly, no interruptions. Customer service was responsive when I called with a question about my first bill, maybe a 10-minute wait. The only small thing was that the pet emergency fund took a little longer to show up in my account details than I expected, but it eventually did. Overall, it's a good value, especially with the pet perks.

Does anyone know if GoodCharlie is legit? Haven't heard of them before but the pet vet thing sounds cool. Just want to make sure it's not a scam.

They're totally legit. Been with them for almost a year now. They're a real Texas electricity provider, just with a cool angle.

Yeah, they're on the PUC list (Public Utility Commission of Texas). My friend switched to them last summer, no issues.

Anyone tried the 24/7 video vet service? Is it actually useful or just a gimmick? My dog gets into everything.

S Shane Whitfield 1 month ago
I used it once when my cat was acting weird in the middle of the night. It was super helpful to get some advice and know if I needed to rush to the emergency vet or if it could wait till morning.

It's decent. Not a replacement for your regular vet, obviously, but for quick questions or 'is this an emergency' type stuff, it's great.

What's the deal with their emergency pet fund? How does that even work if something happens?

J James 1 month ago
From what I understand, you have to be enrolled with them and the pet has to be registered. If something serious happens, you make a claim and they help cover some of the vet costs. There are some limits and conditions, of course, but it's a nice safety net.

Yeah, it's for like, unexpected emergencies. You register your pet when you sign up. It's not insurance, but it's some financial help if your pet has an accident.

Thinking of using a referral code for the $50 credit. Where do you even put that in when you're signing up? Don't want to miss it.

S Sarah Bennett 2 months ago
It should be on the enrollment page, usually near the end before you confirm everything. There's a spot for 'referral code' or 'promo code'.

Yeah, just keep an eye out during the sign-up process. It's usually pretty obvious, a specific field for it.

Hey guys, thinking of switching to GoodCharlie. Anyone know if they actually have decent rates or is it mostly for the pet stuff? My current provider (Reliant) is killing me.

M Marcus 2 months ago
I switched from TXU and their fixed rates were pretty competitive, especially the longer terms. The pet benefits are a nice bonus, but I initially just went for the electricity plan.

Yeah, I think their rates are alright, not the cheapest ever but not crazy expensive. The emergency pet fund is what sold me, gives me peace of mind.
